We are offering an exciting part-time position as an Educational Specialist (m/f/d) for our bilingual elementary school within the Heidelberg Private School Centre.

The Heidelberg Private School Centre (HPC), operated by F+U Rhein-Main-Neckar gGmbH, provides a wide range of closely integrated educational pathways, from primary education through to the Abitur (German university entrance qualification). Across our two bilingual and international primary schools, we currently support around 200 students aged 5 to 10 years.

During our core after-school care hours, Monday to Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., we work as a dedicated team of qualified and trainee social educators, alongside other educational professionals, to provide a supportive, engaging, and nurturing environment for our students.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and supporting students during the shared lunchtime period
  • Assisting children with their homework during designated homework sessions
  • Planning and delivering club activities for mixed-age small groups from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Depending on your interests and qualifications, these activities may focus on areas such as sports and physical activity, arts and crafts, nature and environmental exploration, music, games, or relaxation
  • Supervising and caring for children during the late-care session from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Your Profile:

  • You hold a qualification in education, pedagogy, social work, or a related field, or you are currently pursuing relevant vocational training or a degree. Career changers with a passion for working with children are also welcome to apply.
  • Ideally, you have already gained experience working with primary school-aged children.
  • You are enthusiastic about supporting and caring for children aged 5 to 10 years.
  • You are reliable, punctual, responsible, and adaptable to new situations and challenges.
  • You are empathetic and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You have excellent English language skills, ideally at native-speaker level or a minimum of C1 proficiency.
